Live below the Line - Day 5 (Final!)
It’s OVER!!!! I’m done! As I am typing this I am having a bottle of Kopparberg. As I had my first drink I actually let out a very loud Ahhhh! I must be crazy. I don’t even drink that often. (once a week or less yeah?) Then again I had a really bad day. Woke up at 12.30pm (really bad) so ended up being at work at 3pm. =/ Chocolate bourbons: 3pcs after midnight snack. 9p (I could...

Live below the Line - Day 4
Unbelievably tired last night, only to wake up at 10,30am instead of the usual 7-8am or earlier. So in some way I might have cheated a bit as there are now lesser awake hours. Still went for work as usual. =] Struggled for a bit last night. I thought my post phd stress was catching up as I was reading through pages and pages of career-related stuff and badly wanted a Kopparberg. Now, most people...

Live Below the Line - Day 3
Oh the food I’ve eaten the past few days…..I think a pie chart would be useful to express this point. Note:This is just a rough estimate based on volume. I have to say I probably ate 30% less volume compared to normal food intake. I’ve got a feeling I would actually run to the supermarkets on Monday and buy bags (yes bags!!!) of fruit. I currently have half a lemon a day...

Live Below the Line - Day 2
I’m feeling much better today. By that I mean that I didn’t get crazy hungry as compared to the day before. Maybe the vegetable soup with rice was really too little. It probably helped that I had stir fry with rice and there was a bit of meat in my stir fry. Day 2: 8.30am: Breakfast of rice porridge with vegetable stock, 2 eggs scrambled in and sesame oil. Giant mug of tea. 30p ...

Live Below the Line - Day 1
Some of my fellow students and colleagues have joined this campaign ”Live below the Line”. You can read more about the event here: https://www.livebelowtheline.com/uk?lang=en Basically it means that we have to live on £1 a day for 5 days - You can make your own rules but cannot accept food gifts.  Reasons why I think it is a good idea: - I think I have a bordering to obsession...

Baklava
A fellow student and colleague went on a holiday to South Africa and decided to host a Cape-to-Cairo Party when they got back. I was asked to do a dessert in the North African region so that it would round up the theme. I’m not familiar with North African countries but I was Baklava seemed to be common in these areas. I’ve no idea which country has the first Baklava but this recipe...
